Bay Village singer-songwriter and One Tree Hill star Kate Voegele gets downright feisty on her third album, sounding more like Avril Lavigne than Jewel on the opening "Say You're Mine." She's just as snappy on "Hundred Million Dollar Soul" and "Impatient Girl," where she practically screams "You can't just leave me out to dry" to the boy causing her so much stress. Elsewhere, Voegele shows off her soulful side on "Sunshine in My Sky" and channels Kate Bush on the moody "Burning the Harbor." There are plenty of Voegele's usual plaintive ballads on Gravity Happens, but this is the 24-year-old singer's most mature and focused set of songs yet. — Jeff Niesel
