CD Review: LMFAO

Sorry for the Party Rocking (Party Rock/will.i.am/Cherrytree/Interscope)

You can say one thing about LMFAO: They know their audience. A quick scan of song titles on the L.A. jokers' second album tells you all you need to know about them: "All Night Long," "Put That A$$ to Work," "Sexy and I Know It." The electro-rap duo makes the Black-Eyed Peas' club jams sound like poetry. In fact, "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling" serve as blueprints for nearly every song on Sorry for Party Rocking. In the club, Auto-Tuned tracks like "Party Rock Anthem" and "Champagne Dreams" come to life. But they sink hard everywhere else, where the simplicity and limitations of Redfoo and Sky Blu's bass-heavy bounce and four-on-the-floor beats become grating. They lay out their mission statement in "We Came Here to Party." You'd be a fool to expect anything else.
