When singer-songwriter Tom Evanchuck proclaimed he was going to bury his wife on last year's debut, he sounded like a man from another era. He returns to the 21st century on his two new albums. The acoustic Fadin' Glow is full of sweet songs about love, longing, and loss, but it lacks Tom's rough edges, and Evanchuck's guitar chops are mostly hidden. Evanchuck plugs in for Tom Evanchuck Is Back as the Evanchucks, which features his usual solid songwriting and playing, but also a sense that the songs are rushed and long for a little more polish. — Lydia Munnell
