Chinese Democracy

When: Sat., Dec. 7 2013
A movie about Chinese morals! A movie about Chinese morals! A Touch of Sin somehow got past Chinese censors and arrives in foreign markets relatively free of cuts. It's been called an “explosive indictment of the Chinese economic miracle and its brutalizing effect on ordinary Chinese life.” All sorts of violence — killing sprees, suicides, etc. — arising from the day-in, day-out exploitation of Chinese workers featured here in three real-life stories that went underreported in Chinese media. It runs two hours and screens at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque tonight at 7 and tomorrow at 4 p.m. Tickets are $9. (Sam Allard)
