Christmastime with Michael W. Smith

Saturday, December 9, at the State Theatre.

Michael W. Smith
Jesus is just all right with contemporary Christian heartthrob and keyboard wizard Michael W. Smith. And while Smitty might resemble a former member of Color Me Badd, he's successfully ruled the Christian music charts for more then 20 years now, selling in excess of 13 million records. Despite his hectic schedule, Smith recently made his acting debut in The Second Chance, a straight-to-DVD flick with a predictably religious slant. He also just released his 19th studio album, titled Stand, a project featuring a reunion with one of his most famous collaborators, singer-songwriter Amy Grant.

But the fact that it's December can only mean one thing: Christmastime, Smith's annual holiday extravaganza. The 2006 version promises to be a more intimate affair than in years past, and as usual, expect holiday and inspirational favorites, as well as a smattering of Smith's smash hits.
