Furry and scaly animals make a road trip.

An obsession with Animal Planet prompted Rachel Shansky, an events supervisor at Kent State University, to bring Jack Hanna's Animals to campus today. "I love watching exotic animals on television," she says. "I wondered what it would be like to see them in person." The program comes courtesy of the Columbus Zoo's Zoomobile team of "animal ambassadors." They show is divided into three acts depicting the furry, feathered, and scaly creatures found in a tropical rainforest. While Hanna — the zoo's director emeritus — won't be escorting the traveling critters, one of his trainers will be on hand to introduce snakes, owls, leopards, and dingoes.
