Mahall's Guest Chef Event

Co-owner Kelly Flamos couldn't have said it better: "French food plus gypsy music equals awesome." That pretty much sums up this Guest Chef event featuring Ohio City's Le Petit Triangle at Mahall's in Lakewood. Le Petit Triangle owners Tom and Joy Harlor will be delivering delicious French-European delicacies with a twist. Curried Crepes with your choice of Curry Chicken or Vegan Filling, Smoked Salmon Pissaldiere, Nutella Roulades and other savory selections round out the night's offerings. "We want the chefs to have fun and create dishes they usually wouldn't serve in their finer dining locations," says Mahall's co-owner Joseph Pavlick. He also wants diners to enjoy the other activities at his establishment along with their food, so guests can take their crepes to the vintage bowling lanes or listen to Harmonia, a European-style gypsy band. The fun starts at 7 p.m.; music begins at 8, No advance tickets are required, and food, drinks (and bowling) are individually priced. If you can't make it this month, Mahall's will be hosting chef Nolan Konkoski from Ohio City's SOHO Kitchen and Bar on Nov. 15.

Every year, Beer Week continues to grow beyond its cult status, reflecting the growing passion Clevelanders have for craft beers. Whether you are an IPA, lager or stout fan, this is the motherlode of events, capping this year's festivities. From 6 to 10 p.m., the monster celebration at the Galleria at Erieview will feature more than 80 breweries. No doubt a fan favorite, a special "Ohio Brewery" section will showcase numerous offerings from local breweries, along with yummy appetizers. For $75, hard-core beer fanatics can purchase a special ticket to get into The Brewer's Circle, which offers tastes of rare and exclusive brews along with Heinen's food pairings in a special lounge. You will also get hooked up with 25 tasting tickets, a commemorative t-shirt, and access to all general admission beers and food. Speaking of general admission, for $50 you can get 25 tasting tickets and complimentary food from the Winking Lizard. And no need to feel guilty about all this excess —you will not be drinking just to drink. All proceeds benefit the Malone Scholarship Fund. Emerging Chefs Costume Extravaganza

In true Halloween spirit, Emerging Chefs will be reviving the Roaring Twenties at Crop Bistro & Bar. "We have created our most fabulous pop-up restaurant concept to date," says co-founder David A. Moss. Starting at 6 p.m., guests will be required to don either a period costume or their finest formal wear. The grand lobby and historic bank vaults should provide a fantastic backdrop for a celebration of this nostalgic era, which will feature three culinary "acts" by chef Steve Schimoler. "We are going to create an event that has never been witnessed before in Cleveland," he promises. Act I will offer live jazz and period drinks and hors d'oeurves. Act II takes guests on a tour of the historic bank vault while Schimoler prepares a five-course dinner, served with complementary wine. The final act features classic desserts and aperitifs along with 1920s-style cocktails. Tickets are $175, and available on the Emerging Chefs website.

Artful Cuisine

The Cleveland Museum of Art is one of most inspirational places in the city, so you would expect food to match. Chef Douglas Katz and Bon Appétit management hope to hit that mark in their collaboration with the museum, being launched today as part of the official opening of the new atrium. The centerpiece will be Provenance, a full-service restaurant. Lighter fare will be available at Café Provenance, which will feature an open kitchen. There will also be a food service division, Catering by Provenance. Provenance is a 76-seat fine dining restaurant and lounge featuring locally sourced and globally inspired cuisine. The prix fixe menu will be themed to current museum exhibitions. Provenance Café will serve lunch, dinner and a variety of snacks. And the catering service will give the museum an opportunity to utilize the atrium and other unique spaces for special events. Picasso, Monet, Warhol...and Katz? Head down to the Cleveland Museum of Art and judge for yourself.
