Today marks the 116th opening of the Cuyahoga County Fair — and it looks like old age has made the venerable event kind of feisty. Sure, you can still find old-timey diversions like cow milking and tractor demos. But this year’s main attractions are all about chills and thrills. That includes tonight’s World’s Largest Demolition Derby and tomorrow’s Hell Drivers stunt show. Among the other less-than-snoozy entertainments: a live alligator show, a rodeo, harness racing, the North Coast Beatle Fest, and an appearance by comedy cooking duo Mac and Big Cheese. (“They perform while preparing food, and even pass out samples,” says Robert Sculac, the fair’s entertainment director.) The fun continues through Sunday, August 12, at the Berea fairgrounds. General admission is $7 for adults and $6 for kids; parking is fee. Today’s hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Everything else you want to know is on the website.
