Guide to Kulchur, the boutique bookshop and salon next to the Capitol Theatre in Detroit-Shoreway, has been killing it with the evening programming lately. Tonight, they inaugurate a new regular program. This one’s called Electronic Histories, and it’s designed to showcase “experimentation practices” from around the world. Tonight’s experiment will feature a musical artist from Brooklyn, Ben Seratin, an artist with a “honey voice” and “hypnotic” electric guitar who has said more than once that each time he plays a show, he hopes to have at least one person fall asleep or start crying. We’ve been given to understand that he’s often successful. Tonight, he plays with Philadelphia radio journalist-cum-musician Alex Lewis. Show is at 8 p.m. at Guide to Kulchur. Free and BYOB, folks.
