Funny White Dude

When: Fri., Aug. 2, 7 p.m. 2013
Comedian Jim Gaffigan refers to himself as the kind of guy who doesn’t like to get up off the couch and would prefer to just “eat and do nothing.” Obsessed with food items like bacon and Hot Pockets, Gaffigan talks about the bacon in the same lascivious way that Homer Simpson talks about donuts. The Indiana native benefited from the endorsement of fellow Hoosier David Letterman, who gave him his big break and had him on his show years ago. Since then, Gaffigan has been plenty busy He’s starred in several films and written a book. He has also worked with Conan O’Brien to produce a series of funny shorts dubbed Pale Force. He doesn’t swear but his stand-up routines are still hilarious, though his tendency to imitate an offended audience member can be annoying. He performs tonight at 7 at the Akron Civic. Tickets are $39.75-$49.75. (Jeff Niesel)
