It sounds like a circa-1986 teen punk wet dream: legendary Black Flag guitarist and SST label founder teams up with pro skateboarder to form a angry, high-octane rock group with righteous vocals and explosive riffs. Though they’ve been friends now for a decade, Greg Ginn and skateboarder Mike Vallely finally debuted their two-man supergroup Good For You last February with Life Is Too Short to Not Hold a Grudge, but we won’t begrudge them the lag time, the release combines their respective strengths for an uncompromising mix of straightforward punk that’s stupid in all the right ways. With lyrics like “Hanging around like a fucking piñata/bust me open and you’ll find nada,” the band’s meathead angst won’t disappoint Black Flag fans who already know life is too short to waste your time with anything other than snarling, defiant rock.
