The concept of computer “hacking” was defined by the MIT community in the 1950s and ’60s. Those early hackers were more about sharing and providing free access to computers. That’s the concept behind the hackathon that kicks off today at Mahall’s. A registration hour and meet & greet takes place from 6 to 7 tonight and guest speakers are slated to talk from 7 to 9. The hacking will commence after the talks end. Guests include percussionist Peter Ferry, who will be giving a talk on interactive music. Earthquaker Devices will donate effects pedals as prizes. Admission is free but you must register in advance at soundbomb.me/. A Hackathon After-Party takes place at Mahall’s tomorrow night at 9. (Niesel)
