The traveling Rock Art Show comes to town this weekend with 100 pieces of artwork inspired by rock legends. It also features photos and prints made by musicians. In addition to a famous pic of Jerry Garcia showing off his missing middle finger (shot by Summer of Love photographer Baron Wolman), Paul McCartney contributes the painting Beach Towels, which he made while hanging out on the Long Island shoreline. Macca’s former bandmate Ringo Starr offers recent computer-generated artwork of women’s faces.

The exhibit was assembled about a decade ago by Scott Segelbaum to help promote a Los Angeles radio station. Before he knew it, folks like the Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood and the Monkees’ Mickey Dolenz were donating original artwork, autographed concert posters, and handwritten song lyrics. Prints are for sale at the show. “It’s become such a big event that all these people have come out of the woodwork,” says Segelbaum. “It’s a visual history of rock and roll.”
Thu., March 22, 12-8 p.m.; Fri., March 23, noon-midnight; Sat., March 24, 12-8 p.m.
