Jews Rock! A Celebration of Rock and Roll’s Jewish Heritage

When: Wed., Feb. 13, 7 p.m. 2013
Price: $18
Jews and rock music go together like matzoh and balls (okay, maybe matzoh and cream cheese), and now you can witness this historic symbiosis courtesy of the Maltz Museum’s “Meet Me at the Maltz” speaker series with official Rock Hall photographer Janet Macoska. Macoska, a shiksa Cleveland native, will share her collection “Jews Rock! A Celebration of Rock and Roll’s Jewish Heritage” and discuss Jewish identity and performative personae in popular music. (Okay, okay, so “Chaim Witz” — Gene Simmons’s birth name — doesn’t really sound like a marquee-ready demonic cachet.) The event starts at 7 p.m. and costs $18 for non-members, but there will be free wine and cheese. Plus it’s probably the only time you’ll see the likes of Slash and Lou Reed in Beachwood.
