John B has traveled the electronic landscape with some of the genre's top stars: He laid down a track on Grooverider's now-legendary album Prototype Years and showed his salsa side on DJ SS's acclaimed Countries LP. John found his greatest success with his hardcore-influenced track "Up All Night," which appeared on Goldie's Metalheadz label. The song bisected musical boundaries, its pitched-up emotive vocals laid over a drum & bass beat, with old rave stabs and old-school breaks processed by new-school software.
John is a relentless innovator, known for amalgams involving trancy riffs, jazz, and soul. Lately, he's turned a passion for '80s synth into a whole new sound: A few kitschy, retro tracks into his latest full-length, Brainstorm, he drops in fuzzy bass, rises toward junglist bpms and drum patterns, and throws in the rhythms of synthpop, yielding electro drum & bass.
