Sixteen-year-old singer-songwriter Kaya Stewart started performing when she was 13. She sounds surprisingly mature on her eponymous full-length release, which features 12 high-energy pop songs, including the single “Sleep Over,” a tune reminiscent of early Pink, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. In fact, she worked closely with the latter’s producer, RedOne, to co-write the album. Her father and Eurythmics front-man, Dave Stewart (he’s the one typing on the computer with a keyboard larger than the monitor in the “Sweet Dreams” music video), also handles writing and producing duties on the album. This stop on her summer tour will undoubtedly be kinetic, loud and have infectious hooks that fans will be singing long after the curtains are drawn. (Kelly)
