Tyrohill

Local Band In Focus

Tyrohill

Meet the Band: Andrew Saltzman (vocals and guitar), Jim Garibaldi (bass), Ian Goodnight (guitar), and David Nees (drums)

March Madness: These Akron-Kent natives formed last summer and have since led a riot parade of jam-band rock across the region.

Ready for Their Close-Up: Opening for jam-band favorites Ekoostik Hookah last year really got the band's mojo rising. ("The crowd was instantly supportive," says Garibaldi. "By the end of the set, we had everybody dancing.") Now they're all set to release their seven-song debut EP.

You Gotta See 'Em Live: Tyrohill concerts are like self-contained dance parties. "We get people moving," says Garibaldi. "We take each show seriously, so we constantly introduce new material, making each concert a unique experience."

Why They Say They Matter: "Aside from the fact that we have a lot of experience within the band, we're just moving at a blistering pace," says Garibaldi. "We're building this thing from the ground up in a grassroots way, giving the new EP away free for download starting May 1."

Why We Say They Matter:

They re-forge the Rust Belt jam-band formula, mixing classic guitar rock with prog theater.
