Most mall goths consider Meat Beat Manifesto an industrial band. And while the group recorded for the seminal Wax Trax imprint, MBM's new DVD
Travelogue Live '05 proves the group is no more industrial than Trent Reznor is shocking -- especially when watching goofy-faced Jack Dangers croon wistfully over the programmed bleeps 'n' bloops of "God O.D." Mostly constructed from a poorly filmed gig in Chicago of 2005, this DVD appeals to die-hards only, and even they might grow tired of witnessing repeated sound checks and roadies breaking down gear. Sure, the sound rocks, and footage of a stage light crashing onto a laptop totally rules.
But the proceedings need spicing up with some of that pseudo-industrial evil that drives the Hot Topic crowd crazy.
