After hearing MSI's hyperactive disco beats and quivering upper-octave vocals, Insane Clown Posse's Juggalos wanted to hunt its members like chicken when the band toured with the Detroit duo. System of a Down's meathead fans (the ones who hated MSI's ambiguous sexuality) and fledgling political protesters (who mistakenly bristled at the farcical song "Faggot") united in outrage at MSI during the band's brief jaunt with the Armenian metallers. MSI never got a chance to open for Zeppelin, but its "I Hate Jimmy Page," an attack on conventional musicianship, incensed Ledheads.
On the band's recently released follow-up, You'll Rebel to Anything, MSI needles anguish-peddling rock stars, corporations that co-opt the counterculture, and the masses who buy what both are selling. Its irreverent cover of Rush's "Tom Sawyer" should once again have the classic-rock crowd up in arms, while its solid synthpop melodies should snare people who dig the Killers' music, but hate that they don't have the balls to say "dick."
