The Cure The Cured Depeche Mode Blasphemous Rumors cover bands
Before the Cure developed the most agonizingly dull live show in the history of rock and roll, the big-haired Brits had a lively catalog of material that was flat-out ecstatic. So California-based tribute band the Cured takes special pains to emphasize that it's a tribute to 1980s Cure. While they go as late as the slow-and-steady "Fascination Street," you get mostly high-energy favorites like "In Between Days," "Love Cats," and "Just Like Heaven." Depeche Mode tribute band Blasphemous Rumors rounds out the bill of the New Wave Rave, a full-on celebration of '80s pre-alternative culture. Cured frontman Zippy Twombly's uber-coif is hard to beat, but you've got to have something in your closet that'll say "1989" just as vividly.
