Dark Ride — If you weld together a broken Zippo lighter, a rusted spring, and a broken doll's head, you create a junk sculpture that might mean something to someone. But when you do the rough equivalent of that in a play, you'd better have a tighter focus on your materials and objective. In Dark Ride, playwright Len Jenkin never puts down his virtual acetylene torch. He impulsively fuses disparate human oddments hoping someone will look at it all and find profundity ... or at least a passing thought. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat — The biblical tale of Joseph and his awesome, rainbow-hued coat is told almost entirely in song. Jealous of his coat and his ability to interpret dreams, Joseph's brothers conspire to sell him into slavery. But all is forgiven in the end. It's hard to stay mad at someone when he has the coolest coat in the room.
