A number of terrific musicians and bands, including the Black Keys, have acknowledged Kent's the Speedbump, a popular folk-rock band that’s performed with big-time artists such as Matt Nathanson. Led by singer Eric Urycki, the band evokes the acoustic style of John Mayer and incorporates an array of unlikely string instruments and percussion. On last year’s The Moon is Down, the band melds guitar and ukulele riffs with cello and other instrumentation to create an organic sound. At times, the band sounds a bit like Ben Harper, and, as if to prove their musical prowess, they even teamed up with the Canton Symphony Orchestra for a gig last year. The play tonight at 6 at Wade Oval as a part of Wade Oval Wednesdays. Free. (Niesel)
