That depiction is an especially spot-on assessment of the group's spectacular new effort, Our Love Will Change The World, which combines a timeless, jangly guitar-pop sound with some of Smith's most affecting melodies to date. A classic AM radio vibe permeates the work, which Smith says is no accident. "I grew up on that early '70s pop radio, when all those different things were mixed up," he explains. "Back then, it was Anne Murray next to Deep Purple next to Kool & the Gang next to T. Rex, and nobody complained. If you tried to do that nowadays, people would think you were expecting too much of them."
