The Fortune Cookie
is one of the filmmaker's funniest movies. Partly shot at the old Municipal Stadium, the film stars Jack Lemmon as a TV cameraman who's injured on the sidelines of a Browns game. Walter Matthau, who won an Oscar for the role, plays his brother-in-law, Whiplash Willie, a shady lawyer who ups the damages to bilk the insurance company. Before today's screening, the Cinematheque will show a rare trailer that Wilder and crew made especially for Clevelanders.
