Pentimento/Candy Hearts/Allison Weiss/Two Hand Fools/Call It Fiction

When: Sun., March 31, 7 p.m. 2013
Singer-songwriter Allison Weiss has been playing guitar since she was 14, but the 25-year-old only recently got a huge break last year when rock icon Lou Reed asked her to join his backing band for a European tour. Weiss, who released her first EP six years ago, plays delicate indie pop that has drawn comparisons to acts like Rilo Kiley and Tegan and Sara. Her new album, Say What You Mean, won’t be out for another month, but the first single, “Nothing Left,” is a jittery tune that suggests Weiss has evolved and decided to add depth to her music through the use of electronic instrumentations that provide a denser sound that doesn’t come as quite so precious.
