Polka Freak Out

Brave Combo Euro-Tex-Mex 8 p.m. Friday, November 30, $10 (all ages). Beachland Ballroom, 15711 Waterloo Rd., 216-383-1124.

If you know a better Euro-Tex-Mex accordion-rock group that's appeared on The Simpsons and won two Grammys, we'd like to hear about it. Bubba Hernandez is the nuclear core of Brave Combo, and Alex Meixner brings the oompah, mashing up German and Spanish styles in tunes like "Bad Cat Polka." The band also pumps life into traditionals like "Du Du (Du Du Liegst Mir Im Herzen)," spruces up the Beatles' "If I Fell," and revisits semi-standards like "The Ballad of Thunder Road." Bring your dancing shoes, and leave your trucker hat at the door — this is not ironic. It's Polka Freak Out. And freak out you will. Oh yes.
