Show Tune Alert!

The Blossom Festival Orchestra caps its season this weekend with Rodgers & Hammerstein on Stage and Screen. George Daugherty conducts the world-premiere program, which includes classic songs from many of the songwriting duo’s musicals and films -- including The King and I, South Pacific, and Oklahoma! “They’re some of the most iconic moments in movie history,” says Daugherty. “When I see that helicopter shot zooming in on Maria [in The Sound of Music], I still get chills.” Today’s performance is preceded by an All-American Cookout; fireworks follow the concert. “The hardest thing about this [show] is keeping stuff out,” says Daugherty. “If I put in everything I wanted, it would be seven hours.”
Sept. 1-2, 8:30 p.m.
