Michael Rogaliner's too young to remember the Rat Pack. But when he heard a recording of Frank Sinatra crooning "Fly Me to the Moon" one night, the weekly Fabulous Midnight Martini Show was born. "It just seemed to be the kind of music that was cool to listen to," says Rogaliner, the show's director. The 70-minute performance features tuxedoed Ian Atwood and Donnie Long and bejeweled doll Eileen Burns in a Vegas-style cabaret show. Each week, a guest performer joins the trio. Atwood belts out "Theme From New York, New York," Long does "Strangers in the Night," and Burns turns heads with Rosemary Clooney's "Come On-A My House." "She's just a ringer for the [Judy] Garland sound," Rogaliner says. "Then she does Peggy Lee's 'Fever,' and I think oh my God. How perfect." The Fabulous Midnight Martini Show happens 11:45 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Pickwick & Frolic's Cabaret Showroom, 2035 East Fourth Street. Admission is free; call 216-241-7425. -- Cris Glaser
The silliest movie in the Cinematheque's "Not a Pretty Picture" controversial-film series unspools this weekend. But it's not the titular creature -- which looks like a guy in a monkey suit with a huge plastic dong dangling from it -- that makes The Beast an eye-roller. It's the fact that only 10 of the 1975 movie's 94 minutes actually include the horny beast (the rest is about an impending wedding). Still, it's a curious slice of European erotica. It shows at 9:35 p.m. Saturday and 9:40 p.m. Sunday at the Cinematheque (11141 East Boulevard). Admission is $7, $4 for members; call 216-241-7450. -- Michael Gallucci
Pour on the Salsa
The weekly Salsa Saturday fiesta starts when the back half of the Waterstreet Grill is turned into a Latin nightclub -- complete with the syncopated sounds of samba kings Bossa Brazil. While the band plays, dancers mamba and rumba till DJ T-By takes his place behind the turntables. A native of France, he spins the latest calypso, reggae, and merengue from the West Indies and South America -- and keeps it up till closing time. "The place is always packed," says club manager Esther Montgomery. Olé! Salsa Saturday takes place every Saturday from 8:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. at the Waterstreet Grill, 1265 West Ninth Street. Admission is free. Call 216-619-1600 for more information. -- Cris Glaser
