Spies Like Us

When: Wed., Sept. 25, 7 p.m. 2013
The Charles Club, if you haven’t heard of it, is an organization focused on increasing civil debate in our society — and may or may not be named after TNT studio analyst Charles Barkley. They convene monthly in the Underdog to discuss important issues of the day. This month’s session turns its attention to national security, and the extent to which all of us agree or disagree with government spying. From the Charles Club Facebook page: “Ever since the NSA spying scandal broke, the White House has been inviting us, as Americans, to have a debate about how much intrusion into our private lives we can handle in the name of security. The thing is, the debates really just happen on 24-hour news channels — not in our communities.” Head over to the Happy Dog basement at 7 p.m. to let your voice be heard: How much freedom are you willing to give up for security? How much security are you willing to give up for freedom? (Allard)
