It's taken a move from sunny San Diego to the North Coast — and the need to support their latest vinyl EP — for DJ trio Dub Traffik Control to play in Cleveland for the first time. And they've tagged semiretired turntablist and fellow Bastard Jazz labelmate DJ Jugoe to open the show for them. Not that anyone had to twist many arms; the pairing came after DTC member Angelo Gastelum uprooted to Vermilion to take care of his ailing grandfather. "He's been wanting to perform with me for awhile," says Jugoe, aka Jude Goergen. "I haven't been doing too many shows, but I figured we might as well do a record release and get the word out." Once a staple in Cleveland's trendiest dance clubs, Jugoe cut back on his late nights to start a website-design firm in 2006. But he still takes the occasional gig, if he has time. "The cool thing is that I went to DJ in Puerto Rico this winter. I got to play in Reno and Tahoe in February," says Jugoe. "But, y'know, I can't be getting drunk and staying up until three in the morning anymore." The spins start at 10 tonight at Touch, 2710 Lorain Avenue. Admission is free.
