The Beatles: 1962-1966, 1967-1970
After last year's reboot of the entire Beatles catalog, these two remastered reissues — essentials in the '70s, when there weren't any other Beatles compilations available — might seem like an afterthought. But the two-disc sets remain terrific primers, especially the early-period "red" album. Loaded with many of the greatest songs of all time, they still sound quite fab.
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
This adventure game (for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) is one of those deep-diving journeys that's as much about storytelling as it is gameplay. So be prepared to get lost in the tale of a pair of slave-ship refugees who make their way across a post-apocalyptic America. There's nothing new here, but the action is solid and the story has a pretty big heart for a thumb-masher.
R.E.M. Live From Austin, TX
When they played South by Southwest in 2008, R.E.M. also shot a concert for Austin City Limits. This 17-song set is an extended version of the show that aired on PBS. The band's set was heavy on songs from Accelerate, which was still two weeks away from release at the time. So stick with "Losing My Religion," "Man on the Moon," and the other songs you know.
Metalocalypse: Season Three
This animated hit show about a half-Norwegian metal band dove into real-world problems during its third season, including music-industry troubles for the clueless rockers. All 10 episodes are here, along with tons of fun extras, including longer scenes and music videos on the Blu-ray version. Funniest bit: group members hook up with their tribute band when times get tough.
The best part of this PSP game is the new system camera that comes with it. The concept is straight outta Pokemon: you search for virtual monsters practically anywhere — under a couch, behind the fridge, in the toilet — and then capture and battle them. The camera helps you find the creatures, which come to life based on their surroundings. Way more badass than Pikachu.
