Derek and the Dominos: Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs: The 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition
One of the greatest albums ever made sounds even better today than it did when people were calling Eric Clapton God. This four-disc 40th-anniversary box tags on an extended version of the temporary group's 1973 live record and extras like songs from a never-released second album, cuts from The Johnny Cash Show, and two rare tracks produced by pre-nutso Phil Spector.
The Looney Tunes Show
This reboot of the animated classic centers of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, who are now living together and getting on each other's nerves. Some things never change. Best of all, the new weekly series works in all of your favorites characters, like Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, Marvin the Martian. Welcome back, old friends. It premieres at 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Last Dinosaur
The filmmakers behind this 1977 Japanese-American cult flick include Rankin/Bass (who made your favorite Christmas TV specials, including Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer) and the studio behind Ultraman. The movie (making its DVD debut through the online warnerarchive.com) is about a big-game hunter being pursued by a very hungry dino. Karma, man.
Nine Inch Nails Pretty Hate Machine
The latest book in the cool 33 1/3 series — in which a writer focuses on a classic album and dissects it from every angle possible — explores Nine Inch Nails' 1989 debut. Daphne Carr is more interested in the record's influence and Trent Reznor's fan base than the nuts and bolts behind its inception. Chapters on Cleveland and Youngstown scrape at the album's sonic roots.
WWE All Stars
Wrestling games, like skating games, pretty much stalled years ago. But this latest entry (for all consoles) is the most fun we've had with the genre in a long, long time. Credit the roster of stars (almost every legend is here) and the freewheeling gameplay, which goes all old-school with below-the-belt hits and flying furniture. The awesome Fantasy Warfare mode is a must.
