Giant Single: Profile Records Rap Anthology

(Profile/Legacy)

Like most hip-hop careers, pioneering rap label Profile ran out of steam in its second decade. But the first part of this 31-song, two-CD set is loaded with tracks from a time when guys used to have fun rhyming over cuts like Tom Tom Club's “Genius of Love.” The hits here – Run-D.M.C.'s “Sucker M.C.'s” and “Walk This Way,” Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock's “It Takes Two” – are indispensable.

VIDEO Delocated! Seasons 1 & 2

(Adult Swim)

Just in time for the start of the third season, here are all 19 episodes from the first two seasons of Adult Swim's live-action show about a guy and his family in the Witness Protection Program that take part in a reality show about their lives. Most of the jokes are subtle, letting the whole absurd notion of reality shows play out with little commentary. Like they need it.

BOOK

Explorer: The Mystery Boxes

(Amulet)

This cool new graphic-novel anthology gathers seven stories (by vets and newcomers alike) based around the same premise: There's this mysterious box that may or may not contain something evil. Each artist/writer hits the box from a different angle, and they're each revealing in their own ways. It's an interesting literary experiment that pays off with rich, rewarding stories.

BOOK

Frank Reade: Adventures in the Age of Invention

(Abrams)

Paul Guinan and Anina Bennett take an adventurer from 19th-century stories written for boys, treat him like a real-life hero, and come up with a fascinating book that's part steampunk fantasy, part revised history. Robots, airships, and other mechanized things that were still part of the future back in the day populate Reade's world, which is an amazing, visually exciting treat.

To Kill a Mockingbird: 50th Anniversary Edition

(Universal)

One of the best movies ever made celebrates its 50th anniversary with its Blu-ray debut. The set includes a book filled with movie memorabilia, like script pages with star Gregory Peck's handwritten notes and posters. Plus, there's lots of extras, including a great documentary about the making of the movie, the classic book it's based on, and the real-life small town behind the story.
