The Devil Wears Prada/The Ghost Inside/Texas in July/Volumes

When: Tue., Nov. 5, 7 p.m. 2013
Price: $20 ADV, $23 DOS
At a time when hardcore band come and go, Devil Wears Prada, which formed nearly a decade ago, has successfully withstood the test of time. But not without some hardship. The band recently underwent a line-up change as keyboardist James Baney departed last year. But the group hasn't missed a beat. Executive produced by Killswitch Engage’s Adam Dutkiewicz and produced by the band along with producer/engineer Matt Goldman (Underoath, The Chariot), the band's new album 8:18 features some fantastic keyboard work that brings out the group's Gothic impulses. Opening tune "Gloom" commences with Nine Inch Nails-like blips and bleeps before the parched vocals kick in. And because songs such as "First Sight" and "Sailor's Prayer" still hit hard and heavy, long-time fans won't be disappointed by the change in musical direction. (Niesel)
