The Elvis Birthday Tribute Tour 2007

Sunday, January 7, at the State Theatre.

"Before Elvis, there was nothing," said John Lennon in regard to Presley's tremendous cultural impact. Both man and legend, Presley inspires devotion so intense, Kim Jong-il, North Korea's pompadoured despot, is reputedly envious.

Now many singers make a living professionally "recreating" Elvis. Matt Lewis wows 'em in Vegas -- in fact, none other than sexy Ann-Margret, Elvis' co-star in Viva Las Vegas, once joined Lewis onstage. Donny Edwards received props from Presley's road manager, Al Devorin, who "had chills" watching Edwards' routine (he has also sung with the Jordanaires, Elvis' original backup singers). Shawn Klush portrayed him on CBS' Shake, Rattle & Roll mini-series, and has performed with Presley's crew. Now imagine all three Elvi performing on the Elvis Birthday Tribute Tour 2007, hosted by D.J. Fontana, the King's original drummer (and Keith Moon's favorite) and featuring the Sweet Inspirations, who sang on the classic "Suspicious Minds." Wow.
