The main reason the Poets' & Writers' League of Greater Cleveland is gathering Writers & Their Friends at the Cleveland Play House on Saturday is to sell books, admits executive director Darlene Montonaro. But that doesn't mean you won't be entertained. Twenty-five area writers -- like Terry Pluto, David Hansen, and Gail Ghetia Bellamy (pictured) -- will have excerpts of their work read onstage by local actors and personalities (like The Plain Dealer's Michael Heaton and Congressman Sherrod Brown). "Our point is to introduce our community to the writers who live and work here," Montonaro says. "We've got a great literary community. Our goal is to introduce you to these people. We want to introduce you to their writing. And we want you to support them, so they don't move elsewhere." It starts at 8 p.m. at the Play House's Bolton Theatre, 8500 Euclid Avenue. Tickets are $15 and $25, available by calling 216-421-0403. -- Michael Gallucci
Eleven one-act plays, running no longer than 10 minutes each, make up Ten Below. "You're going to see a lot in one night," says director Ann Hedger. It's at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday through May 29 at the Fine Arts Association, 38660 Mentor Avenue in Willoughby. Tickets are $15 to $17; call 440-951-6637. -- Cris Glaser
Jimmie Walker's five-year stint as J.J. on Good Times in the '70s pretty much sealed, and stalled, his career. Too bad -- the dude's still funny. He's at Hilarities Comedy Club (1546 State Road in Cuyahoga Falls) 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $9 Friday and $10 Saturday; call 330-923-4700. -- Michael Gallucci
