Twin Tigers continues the fine tradition of American bands aping Brit post-punk. Their new album, Death Wish, which they recorded at the same studio where like-minded rock act Interpol records, features atmospheric tunes that sound like they could be outtakes from a long lost Echo and the Bunnymen album. Singer Matthew Rain even adopts a Brit accent as he delivers baritone vocals in “Wildest Dreams” and practically speaks his way through “Sources.” The synths in the title track are a bit edgier and recall Joy Division more than poppier Brit rockers like the Cure. Not that there’s anything wrong with copping a few things from the Factory Records catalogue, but it all just comes off as a bit contrived. (Jeff Niesel)
