Vote for Change: Local Bands

With the Atomic Crash, Amazed by Lightbulbs, Johnny La Rock, and others. Sunday, September 5, at the Grog Shop.

There have been plenty of anti-Bush, get-out-the-vote concerts and benefits this year, though most seem to be coming from the heart, rather than the head. The star-studded Vote for Change and Punkvoter tours ostensibly back John Kerry, though both are booked into several venues associated with Clear Channel -- a major Bush-campaign contributor -- thereby making money for the opposition while they're trying to raise funds and awareness for their own candidate.

But on a local level, the upcoming Vote for Change: Locals night at the Grog Shop offers all the advocacy and none of the contradictions of the many politically motivated shows on the calendar in upcoming months. Voter registration forms and materials from organizations like Punk Voter will be on hand, in addition to sets from the glam garage favorites Atomic Crash, popsters Amazed by Lightbulbs, and fest organizer Johnny La Rock. Get informed while you're getting loaded.
