Ohio, Priced to Move
Proponents of Ohio's casino referendum were very wise to craft it in a way that people like our current governor cannot change ["Musical Racetracks," April 13, 2011].
A group of spineless politicians fought gambling at every turn for decades. Now, when the voters have spoken, they complain that the deal is not good enough for Ohio. The governor must be upset that he missed his opportunity for the payola from casinos. But he still has the Turnpike Commission to sell to his buddies.

John Kasich keeps spending the state's money like we do not have an $8 billion deficit ["Ohio Hires Gaming Consultants," at the Scene & Heard blog]. He wants to destroy the working class and make sure the rich get more of the pie. I can't wait for the November referendum and the next gubernatorial election cycle. I will again vote against this egotistical, maniacal idiot, and I urge everyone to do the same.

The Governor's Sucker Bet
Another stupid move by Ohio politicians, these gaming consultants will hold up these projects for maybe two years. The loss of revenue for those two years, plus the cost of the consultants, adds up to millions of dollars that Ohio loses in the meantime.

Michael Gallucci's article was the best piece written yet about these former Cleveland rockers ["The Idiot Diaries," April 6, 2011]. Loved the line about them not being afraid to look like dirtbags in their books, and what a shame it is that Bob Pfeifer wrote a novel and not an autobiography like the others (thanks for the info on his jail stint and conviction). Awesome piece, man.

Correction
An item in last week's Scene & Heard incorrectly stated that the Cleveland Foodbank and the Hunger Network both receive funding from area foundations. The Hunger Network does not receive such funding. Sorry about that.
