Fans of Jacobs Field will love Buffalo's Dunn Tire Park. The 15-year-old Bisons stadium kicked off a wave of modern ballpark designs that rejected the multisport concrete bowls of the '60s and '70s and instead took their cues from the quirky downtown parks of the past. Here's what to watch for:

History: Championship teams are pictured on a large screen in left. A panoramic photograph of the 1930s-era ballpark hangs in the second-level concourse.

Food: The fried bologna sandwich is almost the size of a Frisbee and comes with onions, green peppers, and cheese. Come back later for the Italian sausage.

Mascot: Buster Bison is a guy in a player uniform and a bison head. He picks one kid to be "Buster's Buddy" at the start of the game, and that kid gets to tag along with Buster for the whole game. If you're eight years old, that's cool.

Games: This Thursday at 1:05 p.m. and Friday at 7:35 p.m. vs. the Norfolk Tides; Saturday at 7:05 p.m., Sunday at 2:05 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. vs. the Rochester Red Wings. $4.50 to $17.

Directions: Dunn Tire Park, 275 Washington Street, Buffalo, New York (I-90 East to I-190 North to Elm Street); call 716-846-2000. -- Mark T. Fatla

Wild Things
The Metroparks celebrate Ohio with an outdoorsy kinda day.

SAT 6/7

The Cleveland Metroparks' Wild About Ohio is a daylong, park-wide celebration of the great outdoors that's part of the state's bicentennial celebration. Programs include a five-mile hike, bird-banding at the Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, Home on the Range With the Wild Turkey (a trip to a farm that raises future Thanksgiving dinners), programs on Ohio's native reptiles and Owls, and a lesson in quill penmanship. The whole thing wraps up with a Bicentennial Celebration Concert at Look About Lodge at 6:30 p.m. All activities are free. Call 440-351-6300 for more information, or visit www.clevelandmetroparks.com for a complete schedule. -- Michael Gallucci
