Wild About Woody

When: Fri., Sept. 13, 7:30 p.m. 2013
An American icon whose music influenced generations of folksingers, Woody Guthrie wrote songs that sound timeless. His significance can’t be understated — everyone from Dylan to Springsteen has cited him as an inspiration. His life is the basis of Woody Sez: The Life & Music of Woody Guthrie, which starts a three-week run tonight at 7:30 at the Allen Theatre. In keeping with the folk tradition, the performance won’t be amplified and will feature a wide range of acoustic instruments. After select shows, local musicians will participate in informal hootenannies to which members of the general public are invited to bring their own instruments. Tickets are $45 to $72. (Niesel)
