"Too often these days, local shows are put together without the fan's best interest in mind," says Bill Peters, host of WJCU's long-running Metal on Metal program, who assembled the show. "Bills are stacked with too many bands that have lineups determined by how many tickets a band sells, not by the quality of their music. Shows run off-schedule, start too early, run too late, are not properly promoted, suffer from bad sound, and are poorly attended. It's really turned a lot of people off from going to local shows."
Metal Monday Night aims to help change all that. Headlined by Cleveland's finest Euro-styled thrash troupe, Soulless, the show also features bullet-belt-clad metal throwbacks Destructor and death-rock favorites Abdullah.
"Musically, this is one of the best local shows I've ever been involved with," Peters says. "When volunteering to put a show together or organizing an event like this, I approach it from a fan's perspective, since I'm a fan of this style of music. I always make sure the end result is a show I would like to see. All five bands are first-class headliners in their own right. This would make for a great cross-country touring package to represent some of our city's best music."
