Wolfpac

With Hysteria, Syckside, Dr.Gigglez, and Skitz. Wednesday, July 16, at Peabody's.

Wolfpac seemed ready to take over the new world of rap-metal crossover when its album Evil Is . . . dropped -- in 1996. It's been expanded, remixed, and reissued a few times (most recently on Megaforce Records), and the boys have been touring off and on ever since. They haven't been prolific, but if your job involved hanging out with porn stars (that's Jenna Jameson on the cover) and swilling Jägermeister till the sun rises, you probably wouldn't get much done either.

The horrorcore crew samples the likes of Biohazard and Tool, and recently supplemented the mix with live bass and guitar. Lead MC Daddy Longlegs was a founding member of the suburban-rap pioneers the Bloodhound Gang, and he's since become alt-hip-hop's Alice Cooper, leading a revolving-door lineup of rappers who spit flaming kerosene, break bottles over each other's heads, and generally thrash about a great deal. Evil DJ PDGSM (picture a liberally pierced Michelin Man dressed in black) made a splash on MTV2 in the video for the Pac's cover of the Digital Underground's "Humpty Dance," a hilarious parody of Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice" clip. In a match made in hell, they'll be playing with a full posse of suburban hoodz. The flowing blood will be real, and so will the strippers.
