For kids, just getting to stay up past bedtime is a big thrill, even if they whine when they start to droop. But if you bring them out to the Cleveland Metroparks North Chagrin Nature Center (off SOM Center Road in Mayfield Village, 440.473.3370) from 5-11 today for Nature at Night, they’ll find such an array of things to see and do that they (hopefully) won’t be able to get bored and cranky. They (and you) can look through telescopes at the moon, meet and learn about nocturnal animals, watch puppet shows, listen to storytellers, join in crafts and singalongs, and — once the sun sets around 9 p.m. — settle onto blankets or chairs on the lawn to take in an outdoor screening of the 2006 animated animal film Over the Hedge. There’ll be refreshments for sale to take care of those “I’m hungry; I’m thirsty” complaints. Admission is free. — Anastasia Pantsios
