Cincinnati native Rakesh Satyal writes about gay men and their relationships, especially with people who are not gay — like their fathers and childhood friends. His novel Blue Boy tells of Kiran Sharma, an Indian boy growing up in the author’s hometown in the early ’90s. Kiran prefers ballet over basketball, and he plays with dolls. He doesn’t fit in with other Indian children or the rest of his schoolmates and doesn’t understand his life, until he realizes that he is a god. Satyal will sign copies of Blue Boy — and if you mention it, they’ll contribute a portion of the sale to benefit Cleveland Pride — at 2 p.m. Saturday at Joseph Beth Booksellers (24519 Cedar Road, Lyndhurst, 216.691.7000). Free. — Michael Gill
