How often do you get the chance to act truly childish without drawing strange looks and comments? Every summer, Coventry PEACE, the folks who built and still maintain the magnificent Coventry Peace Playground in Cleveland Heights, offer one night of sanctioned immaturity. The Cartoon Festival and Pie Fight (part of a weekly outdoor movie series; see coventrypeace.org for the full schedule) is elegant in its simplicity: an evening of animated entertainment on an outdoor screen, followed by a Braveheart-like battle, but with more whipped cream and laughter. The cartoons will begin at dusk (come early for the nearby Coventry Street Fair). Bring your own whipped cream, paper plates and lawn chairs or blankets. — Frank Lewis
