Re: “14 Bands to Watch in 2016

I had never heard of any of these artists except for Ray Flannegan and the Authorities and Listen Little Man, which are legit choices. I gave each artist I never heard of at least a 2 song sample and personally thought almost none of it was any good.

I'm really tired of this all-pervasive formulaic indie-rock and indie-folk stuff that is very pop-sensitive, sometimes retro obsessed, and incredibly slick and non-threatening. It lacks any creative edge and doesn't rock. Quite a few of these artists seem to fall into that mold, otherwise I heard some pop-punk and a bit of rather insufferable garage rock.

Surprisingly, I found the one mentioned last (Marcus Alan Ward) to be the only one with some creative edge aside from Ray and Xela.

Where the heck is Brian Lisik and the Unfortunates? I'm sure this must have been an oversight. There is no way, after the album Curtis Interruptedus they aren't on this list.

Re: “Singer-Guitarist Steve Hackett Defies the Odds and Gets Better with Age

The Rocksino really needs to let this fine musician and his band play the full 3 hour set, as all other venues on this tour have honored. Otherwise , there will likely be a lot of disgruntled fans and ticket buyers who paid top dollar to experience this unique performance. NOT GOOD BUSINESS!

The Rocksino needs to let this fine musician play his full 3 hour set this time. We'll give this venue another chance to make good. Otherwise, there may be many disgruntled ticket buyers who paid top dollar for this show. NOT GOOD VENUE BUSINESS!

Re: “Singer-Guitarist Steve Hackett Defies the Odds and Gets Better with Age

Joel Lowitt speaks the truth. I'm very torn about whether or not I should go. What we got last year, musically, from Steve and his band was SO great, but then, finding out what was not played, that was being played elsewhere, was just a punch in the gut that still gets me riled up. All because the Rocksino forced the band to cut the show short. I've never returned to the venue, for music or gambling, since. Anyway, good info from Joel. it's buyer beware on this show because the promised 3 hours that's mentioned in the article is not likely to happen.

Re: “Singer-Guitarist Steve Hackett Defies the Odds and Gets Better with Age

Note to Concert Goers for the 12/4/15 Steve Hackett show at the Hard Rock Rocksino. Last year's concert, which timed out around two and a half hours elsewhere, was reduced to 90 minutes at the Rocksino. Hackett Management indicated this was due to a time limit placed by the venue and thus they had to cut nearly an hour of material from their setlist. Beware, this tour's show is apparently running nearly 3 hours, so if the Rocksino management decrees the same time limit, fans will again be "treated" to half a show.

Genesis survived the loss of Peter Gabriel, but forever lost a brilliant impressionistic artistry when Steve Hackett exited the stage.....and the band became Two Guys & Phil Collins.

Re: “Singer-Songwriter Chris Cornell Brings His Solo Acoustic Tour to Lakewood Civic

I saw Chris Cornell's solo acoustic show @ the Shubert Theater in Boston in 2013. It was an amazing show. He's an incredibly talented singer/songwriter/musician no doubt.

He performed over 30 songs with plenty of Soundgarden & Audioslave as well as some awesome covers and his solo stuff of course.

His latest album "Higher Truth", which came out in the middle of September is already a favorite of mine. "Wrong Side" being my standout favorite track right now.

He's touring now & I'm really stoked to see him again in Boston in just a few weeks.

Setlist from 2013:

Re: “The Rock Hall Turns 20 This Year, But the Real Fun Comes in the Next 20 Years

It's sad that today's supposed "musical genius" (Kanye West) doesn't actually play any musical instruments at all. It really speaks to the demise of popular music as a whole. No one plays instruments anymore. We have no choice but to look forward to a "Rock Hall" full of microphones and turntables. Awesome.

(And I'm not some old dude bitching about the younger generation. I'm in my 20's, and I feel sorry for my generation.)

Re: “Singer Peter Wolf Enjoys Revisiting His J. Geils Band Past

What a long, strange trip......when Peter Wolf initially left the group, the acrimony spilled out in the 1984 album - "You're Gettin' Even While I'm Gettin' Odd". Sporadic reunions from 1999 to 2011 went smooth, until John Geils filed a lawsuit before a brief 2012 tour alleging that band members conspired to keep him out of the lineup and had hijacked the trademarked name. "Piss on the Wall", indeed.
