Burton Wetlands Nature Preserve is a 287-acre system of boreal forest, glacial relic ponds, and wetlands. The area supports several rare and endangered plants, including the northern rein orchid, cranberry plants, and the carnivorous pitcher plant. Some of the rare animal species are the nesting brown creepers, northern water thrush, spotted turtles, and four-toed salamanders.
The upper Cuyahoga River flows through an ancient valley filled with glacial deposits at Eldon Russell Park. This 132-acre reservation features ridges that support an upland forest of beech, maple, oak, and native white pine. The kettles below harbor a number of rare plants.

Quail Hollow State Park is a wonderful example of rolling meadows, marshes, pines, and deciduous woods surrounding a 40-room manor. Scenic woodland trails, gardens, and the house offer a variety of natural and cultural experiences for visitors.
