Halle Berry comes to Valley View

Posted By on Fri, Mar 23, 2007 at 5:42 PM

LaTonya Halliburton caught everybody's attention as she stood next to the red carpet at the Cinemark Valley View theater (6001 Canal Road in Valley View; 216-447-7900) on Thursday night. The diminutive mother-of-three turned up the volume when she opened her mouth. "Holly Berry! Holly Berry! Come here, girl!" she screamed as she unintentionally elicited a few chuckles from nearby moviegoers. Halliburton got half the name right at least. It's a shame her intended target didn't hear her. Clad in a metallic-gold gown, the Oscar-winner strolled past Halliburton and hundreds of other fans for a VIP screening of her new flick, Perfect Stranger. Shot in New York City, the R-rated film stars Berry as newspaper reporter Ro Price, who goes undercover to try and solve the murder of a childhood friend. Co-star Bruce Willis plays millionaire Harrison Hill, an ad-agency CEO suspected of the murder. Before the screening, the 40-year-old Bedford native managed to talk to reporters and pose for the Cleveland paparazzi, before she and co-star Giovanni Ribisi walked into the theater to introduce the movie. Two hours later, they were back on a jet for the next stop on their promotional tour. Halliburton didn't even get an autograph. Maybe next time, she thought. "There goes one beautiful lady who's made us black women proud," she mused. "Halle's never forgotten her hometown, and her hometown will always remember Halle." Perfect Stranger opens nationwide on April 13. -- Cris Glaser
