An Evening in Ohio City

Part Food Network, part HGTV, the annual Evening in Ohio City is always one of Cleveland’s coolest parties, raising funds for the ongoing renaissance of the West Side neighborhood while giving people a chance to eat, drink, and ogle other peoples’ homes. Part Food Network, part HGTV, the annual Evening in Ohio City is always one of Cleveland’s coolest parties, raising funds for the ongoing renaissance of the West Side neighborhood while giving people a chance to eat, drink, and ogle other peoples’ homes. This year’s event, scheduled for 6 to 11 p.m. on Saturday May 19, offers tours of six unique homes, a chance to quaff six handcrafted beers from Great Lakes Brewing Company, and an opportunity to nosh on “heavy hors d’oeuvres” from six of the neighborhood’s more notable restaurants. Dishing up the grub will be modern-Mexican hotspot Momocho; Italian-accented Bruno’s; Greek-flavored OPA! on 25th; and world-food joint Johnny Mango. Making their premier appearances will Cambodian Kim Se (located at the West Side Market), and Light Bistro, the neighborhood’s new small-plates bistro. All will take place in venues ranging from an historic stone mansion and carriage house to a newly constructed, 7,000-square-foot pied de terre. For dessert, the party moves on to the Franklin Circle Masonic Temple, where attendees can enjoy coffee, tea, sweets, and a night cap inside the 1932 Neoclassical structure, which is rarely opened to the public. As always, Lolly the Trolley will provide transportation. Tickets for the event – a perennial sell-out, regardless of the $100 price tag – can be ordered here or by calling 216-781-3222. -- Elaine T.
